In recent days, I found people who are eagerly looking for specialized (very commonly second one) post-graduate degree. I personally know some student of mathematics, economics, even engineering who got admitted or completed their specialized degree (MBA) which is far beyond to their previous stream. The reason behind this is to either attain a job to start career or to enhance career, few instance. While discussing with some of them they explained, these post graduate degree is most common requirement of job application now. Surprisingly I found their claim true. To best of my understanding, our offices do not need a large number of such cadres for their regular operation but they are asking for such qualifications. It led me to look for the reason.
Let’s think about the education system which produces more cadres than the new job/employment opportunities around it. And the result is unemployment. In such situation, thousand of applicants apply against each job vacancy which is really hard job for the HR personnel to deal with. Thus they tend to reduce number of applicants which leads to seek higher qualification in term of education and experience. The asking requirement then goes beyond the actual requirement. Another concern is the availability of resources. Business persons will always try to get the best resources with the lowest expenditures.
Organizations, especially commercials, are offering job to fill either the vacant post or newly created post. Again turnover is tends to be high in this competitive business environment. Thus organization wants the employee to start working in full phase as soon as possible. And to do so organizations try to recruit the most capable one to minimize the time to take over the job responsibilities.
Day-by-day, things all-around are changing including customer demand, supply management and so on. Organizations are to cope up with these changes. To attain competitive advantages, organizations always focus on early adoption to these changes. And being a part of the organization, employees need to adopt also which might be considered as a part of job responsibilities. Like earliest take-over of job responsibilities, earliest response to the change is important, even sometimes become vital.
Business organizations are now working in vary competitive environment. They have to comply different rules and regulation of different stakeholders including government, customers etc. Simultaneously, they have to provide best possible service to the customers to ensure greater profitability of organization. Thus they have to get job done in most favorable manner, both from client and company perspective, within the limit of regulation they are working. This type of job needs to be more knowledge and analytical skill.
Another reason is to look for the future leader. Recruiting more qualified employee leads to the more opportunity for the organization to choose future leader or manager. Again, when most of the employee is highly qualified and competent, the focus of competition goes to the efficiency of their job performance (though I’m confused what really happen).
What quality is our institutions producing, is a matter of debate and I should ignore it here. I should rather say that higher education/qualification widens the view, area of thinking of a person. Whenever an education system is malfunctioning, we can consider that it’s malfunctioning at all level and then every higher level must create or add some additional features. Thus with the consideration of above all rationale, organizations tend to seek for the higher qualification.

First- think a closed economy. your country people cannot go outside the country for job.. then your education system is producing experts in different sections. here the thinking is that ! do your firms, industires, govt are offering jobs connecting to those education system...
I am not trying to heart any one. think about who has MA in Urdu, Pali, or Arabic..
However, policies should be considering the country need!How many dowctors will the country need for next 100 years and the medcal college can produce how many??? such as ...
for policy consideration- do we need policy? in the capital market system market will say what the policy will be. as an engineer is taking MBA..
policy is needed but its a matter of cost. might be cost of politics? should our politicians do those ?
